Arvada Residents Compete In Neighborhood Superheroes Challenge
The city is challenging residents to get to know their neighborhood "superheroes."
ARVADA, CO — The City of Arvada is encouraging residents to get to know people in their community with the June Neighborhood Challenge. The initiative aims to build more "resilient neighborhoods," city officials said.
"Did you know that you and your neighbors are superheroes in disguise? Strong social connections make our community stronger in times of crisis," the city said in a statement. "In the event of a disaster your first responders will most likely be your neighbors and other community members who are prepared to act."
The challenge encourages neighbors to gather and fill out a “talent bank” form together in order to identify shared resources, assets, and needs in their neighborhoods. A photo of the completed form can then be emailed to neighborhoods@arvada.org, along with their neighborhood name and answers to the following questions:

- How many households filled out the talent bank?
- What was the most interesting thing you learned about your neighbors/neighborhood?
The winner will be announced July 1, and then next month's challenge will be issued. The prizes will be a surprise, the city said.
