Arvada Trails Day 2019: Schedule, Activities

ARVADA, CO — It's no secret that Arvada is filled with nature lovers of all ages, and many of them will flock to local parks this Saturday to celebrate Trails Day. Arvada’s Majestic View Nature Center and Two Ponds National Wildlife Refuge will be hosting free activities to entice community members into nature.

The event will feature group walks, bike rides, a yoga class and many kids' activities.

Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., the Two Ponds National Wildlife Refuge will host face painting, Mr. Bones, kids’ games, live raptors and snakes, self-guided trail walks, environmental education booths and free refreshments. Organizers recommend bringing sunscreen and walking shoes. The refuge is located at 9210 W 80th Ave.

Two Ponds NWR is just a three mile walk from the Majestic View Nature Center.

Morning activities at Majestic View, 7030 Garrison St., from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.:

Recreational walk: meet at the Nature Center at 8:45 a.m. and walk at 9 a.m.
Enjoy the views of nature on a guided walk. Bring your water and walking shoes for this two to four mile walk through and around Majestic View Park.

Accessible Trail Walk: meet at the Nature Center at 8:45 a.m. and walk at 9 a.m.
Beginners, strollers and everyone in between is welcome to join storyteller Dean Bernard to walk the one-third to one mile paved walk along Majestic View Park.

Bicycle Trail/Street Rides: meet at the upper lot at 8:45 a.m. and ride at 9 a.m.
The five mile family ride and the 15-mile recreational ride will meet at the upper parking lot in Majestic View Park, near 72nd and Carr St. Participants are advised to bring helmets.

Trails Day Service Project-meet at the Nature Center at 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Help keep Arvada’s trails beautiful with a trail service project. Clear invasive weeds, pick up litter, and perform basic trail maintenance on one of the Majestic View trails. All ages are welcome to help with different tasks; tools and lemonade provided.

Outdoor Yoga class: meet in the Majestic View Gardens at 8:15 a.m.; class starts at 8:30 a.m. and runs until 9:30 a.m.
Join an Apex Park & Recreation District instructor for an hour of beginner’s yoga.
