Digital Arts Lab Opens At Arvada Center For The Arts And Humanities

3-D printers, animation classes and more featured at Open House Oct. 21.

From The Arvada Center: The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities is hosting an open house for theDigital Creative Arts Lab (DCAL) on Saturday, October 21 between Noon and 3 p.m. The open house will showcase some of the hands-on equipment and technology the state-of-the-art, digital creative arts lab can create.

The Digital Creative Arts Lab (DCAL) – started as an idea five years ago with the realization that the only students who could take digital classes were ones who brought their own equipment. This seemed to leave out a significant number of potential students who want to create digitally but didn’t have the hardware or software to do so.

To make this dream a reality, the Arvada Center joined forces with the City of Arvada and IKEA - Centennial and received grants from the Boettcher Foundation, Gates Family Foundation, and donor support from Mr. and Mrs. Terry Stevinson. Now, the DCAL is up and running with camps and classes for students age 8 to Adult in everything from 3D printing, Stop Motion/Animation, Shadow Puppets, to Digital Painting and Photoshop. More information on the DCAL, including a schedule of classes, is available online: http://arvadacenter.org/education/digital-creative-arts-lab.

“We are excited to introduce new people to our Digital Creative Arts Lab at this grand opening,” said Lisa Leafgreen, Director of Education. “We have planned for this a long time, and it’s great to have these innovative classes available to our community.” The open house will showcase green screen and digital movie technology, 3D printing in action with something to take home, electronic cutting projects and digital art making.
