Driver Dies After SUV Crashes Into Clear Creek

A person has died after an SUV was found upside-down in Clear Creek.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, CO — A person was killed after an SUV crashed into Clear Creek Canyon Tuesday night. The vehicle plunged into the creek around 7:45 p.m. on U.S. Highway 6 near Highway 119, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.

The driver was the only person in the vehicle, Colorado State Patrol said. The 2001 Acura SUV was found upside-down in the water.

The person who died has not been identified.

U.S. Highway 6 was closed between Highway 119 and Golden until around 11 p.m. while fire crews worked to recover the vehicle. Colorado State Patrol was investigating the crash.
