Grandma Gives Arvada's Sense Of Community An A+
In an Arvada Press Letter to the Editor, a local grandma had a lot to say about the local community after an outing to Ralston Central Park.
ARVADA, CO — An Arvada grandmother has written a kind-hearted letter to the Arvada Press applauding the local community — particularly local kids — for being exceptional. Cathy Griffin took her 3-year-old grandson to Ralston Central Park last week and said their interactions there have left her "smiling still."
Griffin said the park was very busy, with many young children of all ages, so she stayed close to her young grandson.
"He did not need my oversight," Griffin wrote in her letter to Arvada Press."I saw children enjoying themselves, but treating each other and the equipment with respect. I saw EVERYONE taking turns. I saw cooperation, and sharing among strangers. In particular, I was deeply impressed with the older children present; they were protective and helpful towards the young ones."

Griffin said she saw more than one young woman take her grandson's hand and help him climb and speed down the slides.

"I saw young men and women who stepped in if it appeared advantage was being taken," Griffin said. "I saw a young man mediate fair use and respectful discourse with others he obviously did not know well."
She thanked the community for being so exemplary.
"...a shout out and public thank you to those children, their parents and teachers. You made our evening, and my weekend, a delight, and I am smiling still."
"Bravo, Arvada kids, what an impressive group."
