JeffCo Sheriff To Increase Seat Belt Patrols

A final seat belt enforcement operation will be conducted this month.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, CO — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting the third of three seat belt enforcement operations from July 15 to June 21. The traffic unit and patrol deputies will focus efforts in unincorporated rural communities and canyon areas, the office said.

During the two prior seat belt enforcement operations this year, the office issued 562 citations for seat belt violations.

The sheriff's office received a grant from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Colorado Department of Transportation to support the operations. The grant helps fund more patrol deputies during the operations to enforce seat belt laws.
