Kroger Shoppers Beware: Here's The Bogus $250 Coupon Circulating

A fake social media campaign purportedly from King Soopers' parent company is a scam, Kroger says.

ARVADA, CO — Kroger and King Soopers shoppers beware: If it seems too good to be true, it's probably bogus. That's definitely the case with a no-strings attached phony internet coupon making the rounds claiming to be worth $250 off groceries at Kroger stores.

Kroger, King Soopers' parent company, based in Cincinnati, warned Monday of the unauthorized coupon.

“This giveaway is not affiliated with or supported by the Kroger Company,” the company said. “We recommend not engaging with the site or providing any personal information.”

The company has about 2,800 stores across the country and employs more than 431,000 associates across 45 states. In Colorado, Kroger runs about 152 grocery stores (including Kings Soopers and City Markets) and 80 fuel stations.

Kroger said it is actively working to address the issue. Below is a photo of the counterfeit coupon. The supposed Kroger website asks for person information in exchange for the fake discount, which will not be honored at any Kroger store.
