Make A Difference With Free Leadership Training in JeffCo
Family Leadership Training Institute offers a free 20-week class to develop a civic project in your community.

ARVADA, CO -- "Be the change you want in the world," the saying goes. Do you have a great idea for a civic project that can help families in your neighborhood? A free 20-week leadership course to develop civic involvement and to create a civic project is now being offered in Jefferson County, with classes held in Lakewood.
The Family Leadership Training Institute class will offer 50 local JeffCo residents the chance to meet and interact with local government leaders and find non-profit resources for your civic project. FLTI is a free, 20-week course designed to strengthen family involvement and leadership skills. Participants create their own civic project based on their individual passion and what they want to change in their community.
The program will offer two classes, one for young leaders age 11-15 and one for adults.

The class features a series of interactive sessions where participants learn public speaking, how to frame problems and solutions and who to contact in the community to get things started. It is a community building experience that includes weekly dinners. The class spends a day at the Capitol getting to know state legislators and will have local elected officials speak to the class during the 20 weeks. The group encourages applications from both youth and adults in partnership or as individuals.
FLTI runs for 20 weeks, starting with a retreat, January 13th at Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design 1600 Pierce St. in North Lakewood. The class schedule is Thursday evenings sessions starting on Jan. 18 and running through May 31st and will be held at Mountair Christian Church 1390 Benton St.in North Lakewood. Each class starts with free dinner at 5 pm and sessions run until 9 pm. Child care and Spanish translation are provided for every class.
