Man Arrested In Connection With Arvada Carjacking

ARVADA, CO — A man has been arrested in connection with a carjacking in Arvada, police said. He and a woman stole a vehicle at gunpoint Dec. 14, according to the Arvada Police Department. The woman was arrested shortly after the carjacking.

Joseph Saiz, 25, and Crystal Trujillo, 23, are accused of stealing a gold Dodge Ram pickup truck around 7:44 p.m. near West 68th Avenue and Gray Street, police said.

The truck was then spotted near West 58th Avenue and Kipling Parkway, and police went after the vehicle. The chase ended when the truck crashed near Ralston Road and Rensselaer Drive.

Saiz then ran from police and fired several rounds at officers during the chase, police said.

A shelter in place was issued for residents in the area while officers searched for Saiz.

Trujillo has been charged with aggravated robbery, first-degree aggravated motor vehicle theft and felony menacing.

Saiz has been charged with nine counts, including aggravated robbery and first-degree aggravated motor vehicle theft.

Saiz is scheduled to appear back in court Jan. 15.
