Man In Custody After Arvada Standoff
A man with a gun hid in a backyard, Arvada police said.
ARVADA, CO — A man has been taken into custody after a standoff with Arvada police Thursday morning.
At least a dozen police cars surrounded a home near Oak and 64th after reports of a man with a rifle in the area. Neighbors said police told them to lock their doors and not come out of their homes.
The man hid in a backyard for more than an hour, according to the Arvada Police Department.

Neighbors reported seeing a man with his hood up carrying a rifle case in the backyard.
The man was taken into custody early Thursday afternoon, police said.

The man's age and identity have not been released, as he hasn't been cooperating with police, APD said.
Neighbors were concerned that he was the teen who escaped from Lookout Mountain Youth Services Facility earlier this week, however Arvada police confirmed he is not the escapee.
