Man Sentenced For Utah Murder Pleads Guilty To Golden Homicide

Austin Boutain, who was sentenced for murdering a Utah student, has now pleaded guilty to killing a man from Golden, authorities said.

GOLDEN, CO — A man who murdered a University of Utah student has pleaded guilty to a homicide in Golden.

Austin Boutain pleaded guilty Friday to murder and aggravated robbery in the death of 67-year-old Mitchell Ingle in 2017, the First Judicial District Attorney said.

Authorities said Boutain and his wife, Kathleen, were smoking pot and drinking with Ingle in an RV park when Ingle suggested the three have sex. Boutain then slit Ingle's throat, prosecutors said.

Police said Boutain and his wife then drove Ingle's vehicle to Salt Lake City, where Boutain killed University of Utah student ChenWei Guo.

Boutain pleaded guilty to aggravated murder in Guo's death and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Boutain's wife was sentenced to one year in prison.

Boutain is set to be sentenced Oct. 3 for Ingle's murder.
