LAKEWOOD, CO — Lakewood's Rockley Music Center is closing after 73 years on West Colfax Avenue, the store's owners announced. The store, which sells musical instruments, will begin liquidating its products Nov. 19.

"Take advantage of once in a generation pricing as we liquidate to prepare for our imminent move," the Rockley family wrote in a post on social media. "Piano moving, tuning, storage and limited sales will continue. Orchestral string rental, repair and limited sales will also remain."

Rockley Music Center opened in 1946 at Colfax and Wadsworth, and then moved to the store's current location, at 8555 W Colfax Ave., in the 1950s.

The store underwent a remodel in 2003, which included a new piano showroom.

"Rockley Music has adapted countless times to serve the evolving needs of the musical community and are changing once again," the family's post read. "Upon selling our iconic Lakewood property, we will move into a warehouse location that will better accommodate our new structure."
