Significant Weather Advisory Issued For Jefferson County

The National Weather Service has issued a storm alert.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, CO — The National Weather Service has issued a weather advisory for Jefferson County. Penny-size hail, torrential rain and intense wind gusts could hit some parts of the county late Monday afternoon and evening.

A strong thunderstorm hit Floyd Hill and is moving southeast, officials said. The storm was moving at 10 miles per hour.

"This may cause slick driving conditions on Highway 6 and Interstate 70," NWS warned in the alert. "Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways."

Locations most-heavily impacted include Northern Lakewood, Thornton, Arvada, Westminster, Broomfield, northern Commerce City, Northglenn, Brighton, Wheat Ridge, Lafayette, Golden, Louisville, Erie, Superior, Federal Heights, Fort Lupton, Lochbuie, Dacono, Hudson and Keenesburg, officials said.
