5 Colorado Companies Among The Best To Work For In 2018: Fortune
See what companies topped Fortune's list in 2018.

BOULDER, CO -- Five Colorado companies are among the 100 best in the country to work for in 2018, according to a new list released by Fortune.
The No. 1 company on the list was Salesforce, which Fortune credits for forging an “unusual corporate culture from the beginning.” Salesforce has paid out $5.5 million to employees who have referred new hires and they help strong performers find new challenges.
The grocery chain Wegmans was No. 2 on the list. Fortune says employees at the company find the work fulfilling and it gives them a sense of purpose.

The five Colorado companies that made the list are:
7 - Workday (Boulder)
This enterprise software company is a perk paradise, with unlimited time off, discount backup childcare, and on-site amenities like car washes, bike repair, and manicures. Workday also knows how to party: It “goes big” for Halloween—“honestly it feels like Disneyland”—and the San Francisco office is equipped with a slide.

12 - Baird (Denver)
This global financial services giant defies industry stereotypes by encouraging employees to take time off and ensure their family comes first. Baird folks also have no time for divas: they make sure prospective hires treat everyone, including wait staff and receptionists, with proper respect. It’s a deal breaker if they don’t. How down to earth is this place? If someone does something particularly selfless, colleagues might say “very Baird.”

18 - Cooley, LLP (Broomfield)
Cooley may be a powerhouse national law firm but a word employees bring up frequently is “fun.” Employees rave about a culture where karaoke matters as much as contracts, and where lawyers take time off to accompany underprivileged kids to Disney. The firm also takes diversity seriously and practices what it breaches—67% are women and 32% are minorities. Cooley is also committed to pro bono work, an important source of career satisfaction, and provides its lawyers with the resources to carry it out.

43 - REI (Denver) The 80-year old REI (short for Recreational Equipment) “walks the walk” on inclusion, employees say. It runs numerous programs to connect women and girls to nature, has offered same-sex benefits since 1992, and covers gender reassignment surgery for employees. Recently CEO Jerry Stritzke, known for wearing flip flops to the office, has helped drive a national campaign to protect public lands, arguing that the “outdoors is a place for all.” Read Great Place to Work review here.
50 - Burns & McDonnell (Colorado Springs) This Missouri-based engineering firm is 100% employee-owned, which motivates workers to work towards its “collective success” of the company. People also love the on-site amenities, including a pharmacy and day-care center, along with regular company celebrations like the annual pancake breakfast and trivia competitions. Fortune scores each company on an analysis of anonymous employee responses to a survey along with an evaluation of company programs and practices. You can read more about Fortune’s methodology here.
