8 Tornadoes Touch Down In Northeast Colorado

Tennis-ball size hail and flash flooding were also reported in some regions.

BOULDER, CO — Northeast Colorado was hit with severe storms Monday night. At least eight tornadoes touched down in the region, and heavy rain caused flash flooding near Julesburg, according to the National Weather Service. The tornadoes touched down in open areas, so little to no damage was caused, officials said.

A tornado watch was in effect until 9 p.m. on Monday for Adams, Arapahoe, Denver, Logan, Morgan, Phillips, Sedgwick, Washington and Weld counties. Hail the size of golf and tennis balls was reported in several regions.

One of the tornadoes touched down at about 5 p.m. around 15 miles north of Denver International Airport, causing flight delays and a temporary ground stop.

Another tornado touched down two hours earlier in an open field near Fort Morgan Municipal Airport, according to the National Weather Service.

Flights were also halted in Denver on Sunday as multiple tornadoes touched down in Colorado.

Dozens of tornadoes were reported across the country over the weekend. Twisters in Ohio and Indiana damaged homes, toppled trees, blocked highways and left millions without power.
