Here are the top five stories today in Boulder:

  1. Community Cycles gets cash from City of Boulder to recycle used bike tires. Boulder is putting its money where its mouth is, all in an effort to divert 85 percent of community waste from landfills by 2025. The money contributed to Community Cycles will help offset the nonprofit's cost to recycle spent bicycle tires. (CO Daily)
  2. Colorado State trooper narrowly escapes being hit during traffic stop. During a traffic stop on Interstate 25 on Feb. 15, a second vehicle crashed into the sedan. Check out the video. (Independent TV)
  3. Trails on Marshall Mesa reopening after the Marshall Fire. Trails on Marshall Mesa in Boulder County Open Space will reopen today after being closed in the wake of the Marshall Fire. Those hikers familiar with the area will find that some the trails have changed. (7News)
  4. Cleaning up Colorado's air goes up in smoke. Environmental groups were hoping Gov. Jared Polis' administration would take on clean-trucking policies this year, but then came the announcement that they're delaying plans to cut pollution from commercial trucks. (CPR)
  5. Rebuilding after the fire. In the wake of the Marshall Fire, Boulder County's Office of Sustainability, Climate Action & Resilience (OSCAR) is collaborating to rebuild the homes lost in the Marshall Fire. (Patch)

Environment:

  • Coloradoans concerned about water, wildfires and cost of living. A study conducted by Colorado College shows that there's deep concern about climate change and water issues. 70% of the respondents thought that drought, water supplies and low levels in rivers and streams are serious issues.
