Blasting Causes Rock Slide In Boulder Canyon
The rock slide came down on Highway 119.
BOULDER COUNTY, CO — Scheduled blasting that was intended to prevent rock slides caused a rock slide Wednesday on Highway 119 in Boulder Canyon. Large boulders came down on both lanes of the highway between markers 39 and 40, about five miles into the canyon.
Both lanes of traffic were closed while the Colorado Department of Transportation worked to clear the clear the highway.
The road was closed from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. as part of regularly scheduled rock blasting. Blasting continued on Thursday and Friday.

No one was injured in the rock slide, and no vehicles were in the area at the time.
