Here are the top stories today in Boulder:

  1. Most people who lost their homes in the Marshall Fire haven't filed a permit to rebuild. Of the 1,000+ homes lost in the Marshall Fire last December, only a small fraction of those have actually filed for building permits. It's not an easy process, and some have opted to sell their lots instead of building a new house themselves. (9News)
  2. It's official: Voodoo Doughnuts is coming to Boulder. You won't have to drive to Denver any more in search of the wild, fluffy goodness that Voodoo Doughnuts is famous for. The old KFC/Taco Bell on Arapahoe has been painted pink and will soon be churning out doughnuts. (Ground)
  3. School bus crashes, no students injured. A school bus collided with another vehicle on Thursday morning near Arapahoe Road and Yarrow Street. The students were placed on backup bus and continued on to school. (Patch)
  4. Bird flu found in Boulder County chickens. A quarantine order has been issued for parts of Boulder County after the avian influenza was detected last Friday, according to a news release from Boulder County Public Health. The quarantine order applies to all poultry, and includes areas across the county Niwot, Erie, Lafayette, Louisville, Superior and Boulder. (FOX31)
  5. Boulder considering revisions to neighborhood parking permits and downtown meters.
Keeping a balance between downtown employees seeking parking spots and preserving the character of neighborhoods is the challenge that Boulder faces as the city takes a new look at possible solutions. (Reporting Lab)
