Boulder County Coronavirus Update: 1,011 New Cases Confirmed
Here's the latest news about the coronavirus in Boulder County, and a case breakdown by municipality and CU Boulder.

BOULDER COUNTY, CO — Over the past week, 1,011 new cases of the coronavirus have been confirmed in Boulder County — most of which have been reported by the University of Colorado Boulder, according to public health data.
County public health officials issued an order Thursday that requires everyone between the ages of 18 to 22 to halt gatherings in Boulder. Nearly 1,200 CU Boulder students had been infected with the virus as of Thursday, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment said. The outbreak is the largest the state has seen so far.
As of Thursday, 4,145 people in the county had tested positive for the virus since the outbreak began. The death toll has remained at 79 over the past month.

Around 1,024 people have recovered and 205 have been hospitalized since the outbreak began, according to Boulder County Public Health. More than 57,000 people have been tested in the county.

In unincorporated Boulder County, 24 new cases have been reported over the past week, and there have been 227 cases since the outbreak began, the data shows.

New coronavirus cases have been on the rise over the past month in the county, and the "vast majority" of the new cases have been linked to CU Boulder students, health officials said.
Jeff Zayach, Boulder County Public Health's executive director, said it's essential to take "stronger action to stop the spread of this virus."
"We have researched the actions we can take that would be effective while minimizing burden on those who have not been the source of increased transmission. We believe this strategy can achieve both goals."
Over the past week, 4,072 new cases of the coronavirus have been reported in Colorado, according to public health data.
As of Thursday, 67,217 people have been infected with the coronavirus in our state among 858,108 people who have been tested since the outbreak began, health officials confirmed.
Around 7,454 people have been hospitalized, and the death toll has reached 1,935.
