Boulder County Coronavirus Update: 148 New Cases Confirmed
Here's the latest news about the new coronavirus in Boulder County, and a case breakdown by municipality.

BOULDER COUNTY, CO — Over the past week, 148 new cases of the coronavirus have been confirmed in Boulder County, according to public health data.
Comparison with previous weeks:
- Week ending July 23: 98 new cases reported
- Week ending July 16: 126 new cases reported
- Week ending July 9: 71 new cases reported
As of Thursday, 1,864 people in the county had tested positive for the virus since the outbreak began. The death toll has reached 74.

Around 708 people have recovered and 183 have been hospitalized since the outbreak began, according to Boulder County Public Health. More than 29,300 people have been tested in the county.
The agency released the following municipal breakdown of case numbers, which include both probable and confirmed cases as of Thursday:

In unincorporated Boulder County, there have been 136 cases, the data shows.

Over the past month, Longmont has had the highest rate of cases per 100,000 people, but this week, Boulder surpassed the city:
- Boulder: 680.1
- Longmont: 665.7
- Lafayette: 545.8
- Louisville: 476
There were 25 new coronavirus cases reported in Boulder County July 13— the highest one-day new case increase since the spike in mid-June, which was linked primarily to large gatherings, health officials said.
Until July 13, there had been a "steady plateau" of new cases, averaging 12 to 13 per day, according to Boulder County Public Health. Before a spike in mid-June, there were only about five new positive tests among Boulder County residents reported each day.
The county has lowered the age of people required to wear masks in public indoor spaces, officials announced July 24. Previously, everyone older than 12 was required to wear masks in public anywhere social distancing couldn't be maintained, but the age has lowered to those over 10.

As of Thursday, 46,204 people have been infected with the coronavirus in our state among 523,174 people who have been tested since the outbreak began, health officials confirmed. Around 6,413 people have been hospitalized, and the death toll has reached 1,691.
