CU Boulder students were urged to begin a 14-day self-quarantine Tuesday after a spike in cases.

Students have been forced to move out of their dorm rooms in the Williams Village's Darley North tower to allow for more isolation space on campus amid the surge of cases. Two-thirds of the university's isolation space is full, officials said.

The spike of cases on Colorado campuses is contributing to the state's overall uptick in cases, Gov. Jared Polis said during a news conference Friday.

"The worry is that the college transmission leads to community transmission," Polis said.

Over the past week, 2,960 new cases of the coronavirus have been reported in Colorado, according to public health data.

As of Thursday, 63,145 people have been infected with the coronavirus in our state among 804,767 people who have been tested since the outbreak began, health officials confirmed.
