Boulder County Coronavirus Update: 90 New Cases Confirmed
Here's the latest news about the coronavirus in Boulder County, and a case breakdown by municipality and CU Boulder.

BOULDER COUNTY, CO — Over the past week, 90 new cases of the coronavirus have been confirmed in Boulder County, according to public health data.
As of Thursday, 2,361 people in the county had tested positive for the virus since the outbreak began. The death toll has reached 79.
Around 920 people have recovered and 196 have been hospitalized since the outbreak began, according to Boulder County Public Health. More than 56,875 people have been tested in the county.

Since students moved onto the University of Colorado Boulder campus Aug. 24, 54 cases have been confirmed, officials said.
Boulder County Public Health released the following municipal breakdown of case numbers in the county, which include both probable and confirmed cases as of Thursday:

In unincorporated Boulder County, 14 new cases have been reported over the past two weeks, and there have been 186 cases since the outbreak began, the data shows.

Throughout July, Longmont had the highest rate of cases per 100,000 people, but over the past month, Boulder has had the highest rates:
- Boulder: 846
- Longmont: 817
- Lafayette: 763
- Louisville: 646
Wastewater testing at CU Boulder has detected the coronavirus in four residence halls. The virus was found in samples from Darley North, Darley South, Libby Hall and Willard Hall, university officials said.
All students and staff at the four halls were required to undergo testing after the sample results were announced Monday.
"Based on testing and contract tracing efforts and prevalence of positive COVID-19 cases, we will work with our public health partners to make decisions about isolation or quarantine as necessary," CU Boulder said in a letter to students, faculty and staff.
Over the past week, 1,944 new cases of the coronavirus have been reported in Colorado, according to public health data. As of Thursday, 58,287 people have been infected with the coronavirus in our state among 725,095 people who have been tested since the outbreak began, health officials confirmed.
Around 7,104 people have been hospitalized, and the death toll has reached 1,861.
