Boulder County Coronavirus Update: 952 Cases, Death Toll Up To 61
Here's the latest news about the new coronavirus in Boulder County, and a case breakdown by municipality.
BOULDER COUNTY, CO — According to the latest government data available, which was posted Friday afternoon, 952 people have been infected with the new coronavirus in Boulder County since the outbreak began, health officials confirmed. The death toll in the county has reached 61.
Around 399 people have recovered in the county, and 161 have been hospitalized, according to Boulder County Public Health. More than 7,500 people have been tested in the county since the outbreak began.
The agency released the following municipal breakdown of case numbers in the county, which include both probable and confirmed cases as of Thursday:

- Boulder: 254 cases
- Longmont: 463 cases
- Lafayette: 79 cases
- Louisville: 45 cases
- Superior: 9 cases
- Erie: 16 cases

Longmont has the highest rate of cases per 100,000 people — 482.3, followed by Lafayette (272.9) and Boulder (238.6).

Beginning Monday, additional Boulder County services will be reopening in-person to the public with new health and safety guidelines in place.
The City of Boulder has launched a business recovery program that aims to help restaurants expand their outdoor seating into public and private areas. The city is following the statewide safer-at-home restaurant order, which allows eateries to open if they follow public health guidelines amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Gov. Jared Polis provided an update Thursday on the state's response to the coronavirus pandemic and emphasized the importance of staying at home for older Coloradans and those with underlying health conditions. The governor was joined via video chat by his 76-year old mother, Susan, who has been staying at home since early March and will continue to do so through June.
As of Friday afternoon, 25,613 people have been infected with the new coronavirus in Colorado among 173,300 people who have been tested since the outbreak began, health officials confirmed. Around 4,307 people have been hospitalized, and the death toll among people who tested positive for COVID-19 has reached 1,436.
Denver, Arapahoe and Weld counties consistently have the highest overall number of cases in the state; however, Morgan, Logan and Gunnison counties consistently have the highest case rates per 100,000 people.
