Injured hiker rescued at Betasso Preserve

Boulder County, Colo. - On Saturday, April 10, 2021 at approximately 11:30 a.m., the Boulder County Communications Center was notified of an injured hiker at the Betasso Preserve

A twenty-three year-old male from Broomfield, CO sustained a non-life threatening leg injury while hiking at the Betasso Preserve. Sugarloaf Fire Protection District provided initial medical evaluation and care. Rocky Mountain Rescue Group provided a litter evacuation to an awaiting utility terrain vehicle. Sugarloaf Fire Protection District provided further evacuation via utility terrain vehicle to the trailhead. The injured hiker declined ambulance transport to an area hospital. The rescue lasted approximately two hours.

Agencies assisting with this rescue included: American Medical Response, Sugarloaf Fire Protection District, Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, Boulder County Parks and Open Space.
