  1. The quantum race is on in Colorado. Some believe that Colorado could become the national birthplace of quantum technologies. With academics in Boulder supporting several quantum research centers, it could eventually spin off national quantum technology companies. (9News)
  2. Art worth more than $400,000 stolen from back of truck in Boulder. Suspects cut a lock and stole art out of the back of a truck at a Boulder motel. They made off with tools and five pieces of art, valued at more than $400,000. (Jalopnik)
  3. Boulder's main library reopens after being shut down after meth residue found in bathrooms. After being closed for two weeks, the Boulder Main Library has reopened on a limited basis on Wednesday morning. (CBS4)
  4. Colorado is closing all COVID-19 test sites. Colorado Department of Public Health announced that it will close all remaining COVID-19 test sites on Jan. 15. CDPHE indicated that demand for testing had dropped as most people are relying on at-home tests. (FOX 31)
  5. Colorado has the most annual avalanche deaths in the U.S. On an average year, there are six deaths each winter caused by avalanches in Colorado. During the winter of 2020-2021, there were 12 – which tied a state record. It's become a norm for back country skiers to carry beacons, but a new training program has its eye on protecting lives.   • Boulder County hosting a community meeting on rebuilding in Unincorporated Boulder County after the Marshall Fire. On Jan. 11, Boulder County will host a meeting on from 6-8 p.m. at St. Ambrose Episcopal Church, 7520 South Boulder Road. (BOCO)
