BOULDER, CO — More than 275,000 lights will flicker on Sunday in Boulder's Civic Area to celebrate the holiday season, and plenty of festive events are just around the corner.
The City of Boulder has announced a lineup of programs, entertainment and activities.

Switch on the Holidays - Nov. 24
- 5 p.m. - 1300 Block of Pearl Street
Join the countdown to the grand illumination of the Boulder County Courthouse and the Pearl Street Mall.

St. Nick on the Bricks - Nov. 29
- 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday, until Dec. 21 - Visitor Information Center, 1303 Pearl St.
Kids of all ages can visit with Santa for free at the Downtown Boulder Visitor Information Center. Whether you are asking for a fire engine for Tommy, a new doll for Molly, or a diamond ring for mommy, bring your list and a camera to capture priceless holiday memories.
Holiday Lights Happy Hour Hustle - Dec. 4, 11 and 18
- 5 p.m. - various locations
Lighten up your midweek routine this December with Boulder Walks on a Holiday Lights Happy Hour Hustle! Meet up with fellow Boulderites on the first three Wednesday evenings of December for a short guided walk through the Civic Area to see the lights, then circle back to a festive downtown destination for happy hour. We'll even warm up along the way at a different local coffee shop each week. These walks are family friendly and welcoming to all.
Snow Much Fun - Dec. 6
- 5 to 7 p.m. - Boulder Civic Area Plaza
Begin your journey at the Boulder Parks and Recreation tent, on the Civic Plaza adjacent to the Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse. Pick up a park map, free cup of hot chocolate at the teahouse, and receive a free holiday gift while supplies last. Explore more than 275,000 lights on display throughout Central Park.
Holiday Harps with the Studio of Margot Krimmel - Dec. 7
- 11 a.m. to noon - Boulder Public Library, Canyon Theater
Join Margot Krimmel's Harp Studio for this beautiful holiday harp program.
Lights of December Parade - Dec. 7
- 6 p.m. - Parade starts at 15th and Walnut and heads west to Broadway
Spectators will enjoy floats created and decorated by local businesses, churches and civic groups. Crowds can enjoy marching bands, lit fire engines, holiday carolers and much more. The grand finale includes an appearance by the jolly old man himself.
Boulder Children's Chorale - Dec. 8
- 2 and 4 p.m. - Boulder Public Library, Canyon Theater and Gallery
The Boulder Children's Chorale perform two delightful holiday programs at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. in the Canyon Theater. Each concert concludes with a holiday sing-along.
Holiday Make & Take - Dec. 8
- 2 p.m. at George Reynolds Branch Library
Families are invited to make crafts that can be given as holiday gifts to someone special. First come, first served as supplies last. Suitable for children ages 5 and up.
Chocolate Rhapsody with Noelle - Dec. 11
- 4:30 p.m. at Boulder Public Library, Teen Space
Excite your taste buds and learn how to make hand-rolled chocolate truffles and infused chocolate bars with a teen chocolatier. You will learn how to temper chocolate and take home gifts for your family or friends!
Walk with a Doc (Winter Edition) - Dec. 11
- 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. - Civic Center Park
Join us and take steps for a healthier lifestyle: this walking program is for everyone. While you walk at your own pace, you’ll have the opportunity to have questions answered by local physicians. Join Dr. Nelson Trujillo for this annual holiday edition discussing “Food and Mood.” Enjoy over 275,000 dazzling LED lights on display throughout Central Park. Free refreshments (including top mood foods), prize drawings, and holiday cheer from our jolly elves will be provided.
Colorado Chautauqua WinterFest - Dec. 13 to Dec. 15
The Colorado Chautauqua presents a weekend of holiday festivities in Boulder's most magical setting. Events include WinterFest lighting ceremony, kids ski run, Chautauqua Tours, WinterFest Market and more!
Freezie Fest - Dec. 14
- 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Pearl Street Mall and the Civic Area
A celebration of winter and all things snowmen! This snowman extravaganza includes train rides, visits with Santa, carolers and free Reindeer Games (crafts and other activities for all)!
Rocky Mountain Revels: Mid Winter Night's Revels - Dec. 15
- 1 p.m. at Reynolds Branch and 3 p.m. at Meadows Branch
Rocky Mountain Revels present songs and sketches from their current production, "Mid Winter's Night Revels," an Elizabethan themed celebration of the season. All ages.
Holiday Make & Take - Dec. 15
- 1:30 p.m. at Boulder Public Library, Boulder Creek Room
Families are invited to make crafts that can be given as holiday gifts to someone special. First come, first served as supplies last. Suitable for children ages 5 and up.
Mexican Piñatas and Posadas - Dec. 16
- 4 p.m. at Boulder Public Library, BLDG 61 Makerspace
Enjoy and learn the meaning of the Mexican posadas by making a colorful piñata and cute cornhusk holiday ornaments. This workshop will be conducted in English and Spanish. Este taller se llevará a cabo en inglés y español. Appropriate for ages 8 and up. Youth under 12 should be with a responsible adult. Space is limited, please register to confirm your spot.
Boulder Brass Holiday Concert - Dec. 17
- Noon to 1 p.m. at Boulder Public Library, Canyon Theater
The Boulder Brass has been thrilling audiences throughout the United States for more than two decades and continues to be lauded for virtuosity and brilliance, and engaging programming.
