Shower Videotaper, 13-Year-Old Fondled: Boulder Police Blotter

BOULDER, CO -- These incidents were reported in the Boulder Police Blotter Nov. 1-17.

Nov 2 A 22-year-old man was arrested for Vehicular Assault, DUI-Drugs and Careless Driving Causing Injury after he allegedly fell asleep while he was driving southbound on 28th Street near Arapahoe, crossed over the median and struck a motorcyclist heading northbound on 28th Street who then struck the vehicle behind it. The motorcyclist was transported to Boulder Community Health with serious injuries.

Officers responded early this morning on a deer versus motorcycle accident at Foothills and Baseline. The motorcyclist was transported to Boulder Community Health with serious injuries.

Nov. 3 Officers responded to the 600 block of Walden Circle on a deceased 52-year-old man. Nothing suspicious was noted at the scene. The coroner's office was notified and responded.

Boulder Police assisted the Department of Corrections Fugitive Task Force in the arrest of a 46-year old-man in the 700 block of Mohawk on a parole violation.

Nov. 6 A security guard at One Boulder Plaza, 1801 13th Street reported an estimated $7,000 in damage to one of the fountains at that location. Police are investigating.

A woman was driving at 32nd and Baseline when a dark blue vehicle drove next to her, the driver rolled down his window and pointed a silver handgun at her and told her she was being followed. He then continued driving east on Baseline. Police are investigating.

A man was sleeping on his couch in the 300 block of 28th Street when he woke up to the sound of someone leaving the house. The victim ran to the front door and saw a man getting into his vehicle parked in the driveway. The victim ran after the suspect who started driving towards him which caused him to jump out of the way. The suspect drove away on 28th Street towards Elm.

Nov. 6 Police are investigating a possible sex assault of a 13-year-old girl that occurred at Keewaydin Park, 250 Manhattan Drive. On Wednesday, Nov. 8 at approximately 5:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to talk with the victim of a possible sex assault. The 13-year-old girl said she stayed after school to meet with a friend at Keewaydin Park, 250 Manhattan Drive, just south of Manhattan Middle School. At approximately, 4:50 p.m. she left the park to walk to the East Boulder Recreation Center.

The victim reported as she was walking, a man came up behind her, grabbed her arm, kissed her and touched her in an inappropriate manner. She screamed and the suspect ran to the school parking lot and got into an older white Audi or Subaru sedan and drove away.

The suspect is described as a heavyset man in his 30’s with long black hair and no facial hair. He was wearing a blue ski jacket and baggy pants and may have had a necklace or keys hanging around his neck. This situation is under investigation as detectives gather facts and corroborate statements and additional information will be released if need be.

Those submitting tips through Crime Stoppers that lead to the arrest and filing of charges on a suspect(s) may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000 from Crime Stoppers.

Nov. 10 Officers responded to Illegal Pete's, 1124 13th Street on the report of an assault. Upon arrival, they found a male victim with a head injury and severe leg laceration who had been involved in an altercation with another man who had left the scene. The victim was transported to Boulder Community Health.

Nov. 14 A 28-year-old man was arrested near Safeway, 2789 Arapahoe after a security guard warned him several times to leave the premises for causing a disturbance. The suspect ran at the security guard who, in turn, sprayed the man in the face with pepper spray and then handcuffed him until police arrived. The suspect was charged with Third Degree Trespassing and Harassment.
Officers responded to the 4300 block of Butler Cr. on a welfare check and discovered a 47-year-old male deceased inside. Nothing suspicious was noted at the scene. The coroner's office was notifed and responded.

Nov. 15 A homeowner in the 500 block of Highland Avenue called to report she found a stranger inside her home lying on the basement floor. The 45-year-old man was arrested for Second Degree Burglary and Theft (two beverages from the refrigerator).

Nov. 16 Police arrested a 23-year-old woman for Felony Theft after she took cash transactions for services from her employer, Cost Cutters, 2470 Arapahoe Avenue.

Officers were dispatched to the 2800 block of 21st Street on a man who was found deceased inside his truck. Nothing suspicious was noted at the scene. The coroner's office was notified and responded.

Police responded to the 900 block of 15th Street after a woman residing there said someone broke the bathroom window screen and was videotaping her roommate while she was showering. He is described as a white male with brown hair and was wearing a white or tan colored sweatshirt. Officers were unable to locate the suspect.

These incidents represent a portion of the police calls that took place on the specified dates. Under the Colorado Criminal Justice Records Act, departments have discretion in releasing police incident reports. Because some reports are for alleged felonies, they are still under investigation and are often not reported to media.
