Here are the top stories in Boulder today:
- Final phase of deconstruction of the Boulder Community Health Hospital happening now. Boulder has been focused on redesigning the former site of the hospital, with an eye on reusing as much of the material on the site as possible. In this final phase, the Pavilion building will be left standing and will be renovated for future city office use. (Boulder)
- Boulder plans to rework its disposable bag fee. Colorado's new law will allow Boulder to develop a systemic program that will cut the flow of plastic consumption in Boulder — including reducing the use of plastic items like single-use bags and takeout containers. (Yahoo!)
- With NOAA currently doing a heat island study in Boulder, maybe this could be a solution in the future? Los Angeles is working to combat heat islands by applying a solar-reflecting paint on roads in hopes of cooling off temperatures. - COVID-19 booster shot campaign ramping up this fall. After Labor Day, promoting communities get vaccinated with the next round of coronavirus booster shots, which will be available to those 12 and older. Less than half of Colorado's population has gotten fully vaccinated. (CPR)
- The City of Boulder is working on its 2023 budget plan. Boulder's 2023 budget is a reflection of the priorities that have been expressed by the community and city council.
