Boulder Woman Injured In Scooter Crash Near Coors Field: Report
Her family is speaking out to encourage safe use of e-scooters while the City of Boulder explores possible regulations for operators.
BOULDER, CO — A Boulder woman sustained serious injuries last month after the electric scooter she was driving near Coors Field crashed, and now her family plans to appear before the Boulder City Council to caution against the dangers of e-scooters, according to a report.
On June 28, Caitlin Jacobsen of Boulder and a group of her friends rented e-scooters as they left a Rockies game, the Daily Camera reported. Jacobsen tried to pass another scooter when the handlebars of her scooter caught in a fence railing and she fell face-first, sustaining multiple injuries. Jacobsen is still receiving treatment at Denver Health.
Jacobsen’s sister, Jennifer Jacobsen, told the Daily Camera she is speaking out because she doesn’t want other families to go through the same thing. Following the accident, the Colorado Rockies banned people from riding scooters, bikes or skateboards along Blake Street near Coors Field, the Denver Post reported.

In May, the Boulder council passed a temporary moratorium to prohibit business licenses for e-scooter companies. This was done to give staff an opportunity to explore possible regulations for commercial operators. The city is currently reaching out to staff and community members to garner feedback on what a possible regulation could look like.
