City Of Boulder To Host 'Local Power' Community Meeting

The City of Boulder is inviting community members to attend an update on the development of an electric utility.

BOULDER, CO — The City of Boulder is inviting residents to attend a meeting Jan. 30 that will provide the latest updates on the development of a local electric utility. City staff will provide an update on Local Power, the city's plan to create clean, affordable electricity.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at the Boulder Riverside, 1724 Broadway.

The city is working with Xcel Energy to create engineering plans that would enable the current Boulder County electric system to serve in-city customers. The city is also developing a financial analysis of the potential costs of creating the utility.

At the meeting, city staff provide an update on the project, including acquisition, engineering and the next steps for the project in 2020, officials said.
