City Of Boulder Posts 'Poop Fairy' Video Reminder

People still aren't picking up after their dogs, and local video producers have taken action.

BOULDER, CO — If public officials' repeated reminders to pick up dog poop on local trails aren't working, maybe a man dressed in a purple fairy suit will do the trick? The City of Boulder has posted a video on social media that was created by a local brewery.

The video's message: there is no "poop fairy," so pick up after your pets.

"Contrary to popular belief, there is no poop fairy," the video says. "Our trails and access to our trails are a privilege to both us and our dog friends. Don't be the one that stinks up our trails."

Despite reminders, dog poop continues to pile up on local trails. More and more people are leaving their dog's waste in bags beside trails and forgetting to get it on the way back, Colorado Parks and Wildlife said.

The issue doesn't just look ugly — it's a threat to local wildlife, officials said. Animals can get sick and die if the fecal matter is eaten. The fecal bacteria and plastic can also contaminate local waterways.
