City Of Boulder Seeks Volunteers For Commissions, Boards
Boulder residents who want to have their say in policy making are invited to apply.
BOULDER, CO — The City of Boulder is seeking community members to fill 32 vacant seats on 20 boards and commissions. The new members will give their input on issues of community concern and provide guidance to Boulder City Council, officials said.
Boulder residents can apply for up to three boards or commissions. Many positions are open to all community members, but a few have more specific criteria. Members must live in the city and be at least 21 years old. Appointments will range from one to five years. Up to two ex officio, non-voting members may be appointed by city council at their discretion.
The time commitment is predicted to be one meeting each month that is around four hours long, plus eight hours of meeting preparation time each month, officials said.

New in 2020 is the Marijuana Advisory/Licensing Board. Initially, the board's primary function will be to advise Boulder City Council on policy-related marijuana matters. Following a six-month to two-year period from the board’s first meeting in 2020, the board’s responsibilities will also include making determinations on marijuana license applications on behalf of the city, officials said.

The Marijuana Advisory/Licensing Board will include seven community members appointed by the city council. Two of the members will be marijuana business owners or representatives of owners, two members will have a connection to the health or education field, and the remaining members will be at-large, officials said.
All applications must be submitted electronically by 5 p.m. on Feb. 14.
