Climber Injured In 30-Foot Fall Near Button Rock Preserve

Crews rescued a 24-year-old climber near Longmont Dam Road Tuesday, the Boulder County Sheriff's Office said.

BOULDER COUNTY, CO — A 24-year-old climber was hospitalized Tuesday afternoon after he fell 30 feet from a rock near the Button Rock Preserve entrance, just off Longmont Dam Road, the Boulder County Sheriff's Office said.

The climber's partner found a Button Rock Ranger, who radioed the Boulder County Communications Center.

Rescue crews with the sheriff's office, Lyons Fire Protection District and American Medical Response arrived and stabilized the injured climber, then carried him to an ambulance. The patient was then taken to an air ambulance and flown to a hospital.

The rescue took just over an hour. The patient's condition was not known.
