Coloradans Raise More Than $200K In Memory Of Kelsey Skokan

Community members are raising funds to help a Boulder family who lost their son in a car crash.

BOULDER, CO — A fundraiser has been launched in memory of 17-year-old Kelsey Skokan, who died Friday in a car crash near his family's home. The Skokans own the Black Cat Farm just outside Boulder, and more than $200,000 has been raised to help the family stay afloat after their son's death.

Skokan and his older brother were driving a 1973 convertible near their home on 51st Street, when they collided with a dump truck, which then crashed into the family's home.

Skokan was killed, and his brother suffered injuries that weren't life threatening, state troopers said.

The dump truck driver was injured in the crash. As of Tuesday afternoon, no charges had been filed in the case.

Several community members launched a GoFundMe page to help the Skokans. The page also includes information about how community members can support the family as farm patrons.
