Coronavirus In Boulder County Stores Dec. 16: 1 Outbreak Reported

BOULDER COUNTY, CO — While the holiday season is underway and many people are flocking to stores to grab gifts, groceries and decor, public health officials are reminding shoppers to wash their hands as much as possible and adhere to social distancing guidelines.

Some of the most popular stores in Boulder County have strict cleaning procedures and coronavirus safety measures in place; however, the virus has been able to continually find its way into even the most unwelcoming environments.

While neighboring counties have each reported dozens of outbreaks at stores as of Wednesday, Boulder County has only reported one retail outbreak — the Whole Foods Market, at 2905 Pearl Street, has reported that 16 employees have tested positive for the coronavirus, according to state public health data.

Every Wednesday, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment updates its list of outbreaks in each county.

Some outbreaks have lasted more than a month since they were first detected. The Whole Foods outbreak in Boulder was first reported Nov. 23, the data shows.

More than 2,600 outbreaks have been reported in our state since the pandemic began.

Colorado has begun to see a decline in its average number of daily cases, according to the latest public health data. Between Monday afternoon and Tuesday afternoon, 1,633 new cases of the coronavirus were reported in our state.
