Here are the top stories today in Boulder:

  1. Lyons receives more time to review deal for cement plant. Boulder County's plan to extend the Cemex contract for the Lyons cement plant, will also provide the Town of Lyons more time to review the proposal. (CO Sun)
  2. CU announces new name for buffalo mascot. Ralphie VI, the University of Colorado's team mascot gets a new nickname, and will hence be known as "Ember." (9News)
  3. Advocates for DACA want immigration reform. Colorado immigration activists want leaders to come up with a permanent solution for undocumented people, and to provide additional support for childhood arrivals. (CO Newsline)
  4. Only 10 percent of car theft cases in metro Denver end up with a conviction. Nearly 21,000 cars have been stolen in Colorado since last January, prosecutors said that getting convictions isn't easy. (KUSA)
  5. With all the threats of violence, good people don't want to run for public office. There's an exodus happening across the U.S. of those who are in public office, amid threats of violence and bodily harm. Security for those that remain, and those that want to run for office, is the next challenge. (CPR)
