Here are the top stories today in Boulder:
- Denver Regional Council of Governments said it's dropping I-25 and C-470 funding for expansions in place of a more climate-friendly transportation future. After dumping billions into a transportation system that favors Single Occupant Vehicles (SOV), DRCOG is shifting its focus away from road expansions and toward public transit, pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure. - University of Colorado is working on a degree program that will send doctors into space. Who 's going to take care of the medical event in space? The University of Colorado is preparing to launch the first generation of space doctors. (CPR)
- Boulder's craft brewers are bouncing back from the pandemic. The pandemic nearly destroyed the regional craft brewing industry, but breweries are posting decent growth and a return to something that feels more like what normal used to feel like. (Biz Update)
- After a wildfire, a little rain doesn't hurt. A wildfire ravaged nearly half of the acreage at the May Ranch near Lamar, CO last April. By August, this year's monsoons have transformed the burned patch into a vibrant green landscape. (CO Sun)
- Casa Bonita suing Lakewood to keep plans secret. Along with the City of Lakewood, the new owners are also suing Jefferson County Health, West Metro Fire Protection District and Lakewood Public Works to keep the restaurant's building plans out of public view after someone filed Colorado Open Records Act (CORA) request.
