Eldora On National "Environmentally Friendly Ski Resorts" List
Resort garners a mention on the Outside Magazine top ten ranking while launching several new initiatives this season.
NEDERLAND, CO -- Amid the fanfare of an early opening last week, Eldora Mountain Resort took a nod from Outside Magazine as one of the Top 10 Environmentally Friendly Ski Resorts in America. Outside highlighted Eldora's commitment to regional energy conservation programs and support for the Paris Climate Accord under the We Are Still In campaign since the resort's acquisition by POWDR Corp. in 2016.
Eldora had been previously recognized for its sustainability initiatives by Colorado Ski Country USA. CSCU commented on the resort's continued commitment to improve the efficiency and lower the energy demand of its snowmaking systems, and the fact that Eldora is the only Front Range resort accessible via an RTD bus route – the 'N'.
For the first time this season, Eldora is encouraging visitors to reduce the impact of their travel to the resort by offering carpool priority parking. The new program will reserve the front 200 parking spots on peak-visitation days for cars carrying three or more passengers. Eldora encourages RTD ridership and carpooling as part of POWDR's Play Forever sustainability initiative that emphasizes resource conservation at affiliated resorts.
