Here are the top stories in Boulder today:

  1. 2022 Boulder election results have the even-year council vote winning and the CU South repeal ballot item losing. Meanwhile Gov. Jared Polis handily beat Heidi Ganahl and Sen. Michael Bennet's victory will return him to the U.S. Senate. Nationally, the picture is less clear. (Reporting Lab)
  2. Big impact: the University of Colorado is one of the state's $13.3 billion economic engines. The university's investments in research along with the contributions from faculty, staff and alumni, continues to reap huge benefits for Colorado as a whole. (CU Leeds)
  3. Boss Lady Pizza calls it quits after nearly a decade on the Hill. The University Hill eatery served up its last slices of pizza as it closed its doors for the final time on Saturday last week after nearly a decade in businesses. The owner posted on social media that they were closing due to unsustainable rise in cost of goods, along with the post-pandemic labor shortage. (Subscription/Boulder Daily Camera)
  4. Pediatric respiratory infections on the rise in Boulder County. Boulder County Public Health suggests that families take precautions because of a significant rise in RSV hospitalizations across the Denver metro area. RSV is a common respiratory virus that can cause mild, cold-like symptoms and is the leading cause of bronchiolitis. (CO Hometown)
  5. Grant of $2 million to the University of Colorado aimed at preventing gun violence in Colorado schools. Shootings at U.S. schools have already hit record highs in 2022, and other types of violence continues to boil over at schools as well. The University of Colorado has received a grant from the Bureau of Justice Assistance, which will develop a program for Colorado schools to better manage the crisis. (CU Today)
