Emergency Repairs Expected To Continue On US 36

Drivers who commute between Boulder and Denver are advised to seek alternative routes.

BOULDER, CO — Repair work is expected to continue on the eastbound lanes of U.S. 36 near Wadsworth Boulevard, the Colorado Department of Transportation said. Rainy weather caused the roadway to crack Friday.

"[The] closure will remain in place until further notice with no estimated time for reopening," CDOT said in a travel alert. "Heavy traffic and long delays will exist during peak daytime travel periods."

Wet soil under the highway caused a slope failure, officials said. The crack was more than 150 feet long and was about 10 feet wide.
