Hey, everybody. It's me, Brad K. Evans, your host of the Boulder Daily — Yay! It's National Coffee Day!

  • Yes, even CU students experience food insecurity.
  • Downtown Boulder only has a fraction of the city's overall total of public bathrooms.

📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in Boulder who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.

I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our Boulder Daily readers to local businesses they need to know about. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.

Here are the top stories today in Boulder:

  1. EPA not backing down from reformulated gasoline requirement. The Environmental Protection Agency recently downgraded the front range's air quality to "severe," which then requires reformulated gas as part of the program to reduce lung-damaging ozone pollution. (CO Sun)
  2. Another pedestrian seriously injured in downtown. A pedestrian was hit and seriously injured by a driver in downtown Boulder near the intersection of Broadway and Spruce Street on Saturday. They were taken to Boulder Community Health's Foothills Hospital and then airlifted to a Denver-area hospital. (Yahoo!)
  3. Even CU students struggle with food insecurity. On Tuesday, volunteers at CU were helping distribute boxes of food from the mobile food pantry and were able to provide 297 boxes of food. (CU Independent)
  4. Some City Council members want to take on the lack of public bathrooms. Boulder has 45 public restrooms, but there are less than six in downtown, and many of those are closed at night because of previous vandalism. (Reporting Lab)

Today in Boulder:

  • Science of Food: Center for Academic Success and Engagement. (11 a.m.-noon)
  • Women Who Light the Community: Boulder Chamber. (4:30 p.m.)
  • Boulder Mural Festival: Through Sunday. (Sept. 29-Oct. 2)
  • BCC Season Kick-Off Party and ride: At Full Cycle. (5:30-9 p.m.)

From my notebook:

  • The Boulder County Area Agency on Aging are bringing residents and stakeholders together to discuss how to support active and healthy aging for all in the community on Thursday, Sept. 29 from 9-10:30 a.m. (BOCO)
  • Give your input on the city's shared e-scooter pilot program. Your comments will help city staff evaluate the program's impact on our mobility, equity, safety and climate goals. (Boulder)
