Here are the top stories in Boulder today:
- Referendum against development fails, but groups opposed to the project promise to continue the fight. A big part of the development planned on the CU South Campus includes a desperately needed flood-mitigation system, but those opposed to any development are still saying they'll find a way to stop the loss of open space – even if that means going after the flood protection project. (Reporting Lab)
- Cold case team will assist with JonBenét Ramsey investigation. A cold case team will work with the Boulder Police Department and Boulder County District Attorney's Office in hopes of solving the six-year-old beauty queen's 1996 murder. (The Sun)
- With darker streets in the evenings, CDOT reminds drivers to watch for pedestrians. Transportation officials are warning drivers to be more aware of pedestrians after an increase in accidents during rush hour, due in part because of the time change. (CBS4)
- Jefferson County School Board approves school closures for next year. Last night, the Jeffco school board approved the district's recommendation to close 16 elementary schools next year. The move will save more than $12 million from the district's already strained budget. (Chalkbeat)
- COVID-19 outbreaks in Colorado blast past 10,000 in metro Denver. According to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, there have been more than 10,000 COVID-19 outbreaks have occurred in the state since the start of the pandemic. CDPHE added 66 more outbreaks to the roster on Nov. 9, with a substantial increase hospitalizations over the past seven days. (Westword)
