Here are the top stories today in Boulder:
- Feeling the squeeze? Since the Gallagher Amendment was overturned by voters in November of 2020, residential property owners across the state have seen their property taxes mushroom. A new bill is making its way through the Colorado legislature that may cap those rates and send the measure to voters. (CPR)
- Lake Powell hits dreaded low mark. Lake Powell's water level fell to below 3,525 feet on Tuesday. Putting the lake in Glen Canyon at its lowest level since the dam was built more than a half century ago – is this from climate change or just another megadrought? (AP)
- City Council to adjust 2022 city budget. The Boulder City Council plans to modify the city's 2022 budget by about $19 million, which includes unexpected revenue from the American Rescue Plan Act and the voter-approved extension of the city's capital infrastructure tax. (CO Daily)
- King Soopers in Table Mesa will close for a day to honor last year's shooting victims. The South Boulder grocery store will be closed on March 22 in remembrance of the 10 victims of the mass shooting that occurred last year at the store. (FOX31)
- Colorado considering renaming a mountain peak tied to Sand Creek massacre. The Clear Creek County commissioners voted to move forward with a proposal to change Mount Evans to Mount Blue Sky. (CO Sun)

Demanding Integrity in Public Spending (DIGS) filed a reply brief on Tuesday stating that it "will no longer seek an order from this Court directing Defendants to rebid its contract." DIGS is now seeking to conduct depositions of the County Commissioners and the Evaluation Committee. The change likely allow the County to move forward with the private debris removal contract with DRC. (BOCO)
