Landspout Tornadoes Possible Near Denver Metro: NWS

The National Weather Service has issued an alert.

DENVER, CO — The National Weather Service's Boulder forecast office has issued an alert warning of possible landspout tornadoes north and east of Denver's metro area. The alert has been issued until 5 p.m.

A funnel cloud was reported mid-afternoon Thursday near Roggen, weather officials said.

Landspout tornadoes often have weaker winds than most supercell tornadoes.

"If you spot a landspout, take necessary tornado safety precautions and move inside a sturdy structure and stay away from windows!" NWS said in the alert.
