  1. Shooting spree ends in Lakewood shopping district. Five people were killed after a series of shootings across the Denver metro area Monday night that ended when the suspect was killed by police in the Belmar shopping center. (FOX31)
  2. Coloradans are peeing where they shouldn't. Human urine is damaging Colorado's high country lakes. Researchers have discovered where some of the yuck that's filling the lakes in Rocky Mountain National Park is coming from. (CO Sun)
  3. Long COVID-19 testing lines in Colorado as omicron variant spreads. Several community sites in the metro area reached capacity on Sunday, and stores are running short on home test kits. (CBS4)
  4. More CU basketball games postponed due to COVID-19. The University of Colorado announced that the CU men's basketball team will not make its upcoming road trip to play Oregon and Oregon State due to COVID-19 protocols. (9News)
  5. Hearing set for judge to reconsider trucker's 110-year sentence. On Monday, at the request of District Attorney Alexis King, Judge Bruce Jones scheduled a hearing on Jan. 13 to reconsider Rogel Aguilera-Mederos' sentence. (CO Sun)

  • Cripple Creek institutes a nine-month moratorium on new short-term rentals. Local governments across the state are scrambling into action in hopes of easing the growing housing shortage as more homeowners put their properties on short-term rental sites. In Cripple Creek, many of the visitors are coming up to the casinos, and creating housing issues for locals and workforce housing. (CPR)
