Man Accused Of Raping Woman In Backseat Of Car In Boulder

According to reports, when asked why he didn't stop, the suspect said, "What girl is really going to want to stop in the middle of sex?"

BOULDER, CO — A 19-year-old man was arrested last week for allegedly raping a woman in the backseat of his car two years ago, according to reports. Jose Luis Avina was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault after a woman he met through a phone app contacted police and claimed Avina raped her in late 2017.

The woman said she met Avina in August 2017 and was interested in pursuing a relationship with him, but also told police she told Avina she was a virgin and not ready to have sex with him, the Daily Camera reports. She told police that while together, they moved to the backseat of a car to kiss, but after she told Avina she wasn’t ready to have sex, he sexually assaulted her.

The incident happened at Foothills Community Park, 800 Cherry Ave. When contacted about the incident, Avina told police the woman had said she “wasn’t sure” she wanted to be intimate, but then said, “sure, if you want to.” He also admitted that she asked him to stop several times while they were having sex and, when asked why he didn’t stop, Avina told police, “What girl is really going to want to stop in the middle of sex?”
