More Severe Thunderstorms, Hail Possible in Boulder: NWS

Large hail, damaging winds, heavy rain and even a tornado will be possible Tuesday afternoon and evening.

BOULDER, CO – Get ready for more severe storms. The National Weather Service's Boulder office is predicting thunderstorms this afternoon and evening across northeast Colorado.

"Large hail, damaging winds, heavy rain and even a tornado will be possible," NWS tweeted.

Monday night, golf-ball sized hail hit Boulder County and Broomfield, as storms made their way east through north Denver and Brighton.

Winds up to 50 miles per hour swept through, as well as quarter-sized hail in a patch that covered Johnstown, Mead, Firestone and also Niwot and parts east. Hail stones as big as tennis balls were recorded in Frederick.

Neighborhoods near Coal Creek in Louisville reported smashed vehicle windshields and dents, skylights broken, and a satellite dish damaged. In Brighton, roofs were destroyed, including that of a popular taco restaurant.
