Mountain Lion Attacks 2 In Larimer County

LARIMER COUNTY, CO — Two people were hospitalized Wednesday after they were attacked by a mountain lion in Larimer County, wildlife officials said. One of the victims is a deputy.

The two were attacked at a home west of downtown Loveland, near Big Thompson Elementary School.

Deputies from the Larimer County Sheriff's Office and state wildlife game wardens were called to the 2100 block of River Rim Road Wednesday afternoon, and they tracked the animal to a trailer park, Fox 31 reported. The mountain lion then attacked a deputy, wildlife officials said.

Deputies and wardens fired shots at the animal, but it took off to a home near Black Crow Road and Highway 34, according to the report.

A Colorado Parks and Wildlife game warden then shot and killed the mountain lion near the home, officials said.

Both victims of the attack suffered non-life threatening injuries.
