Here are the top stories today in Boulder:

  1. Omicron cases surging in Colorado, see the latest CDC Data. More than half of the new COVID-19 cases in Colorado are the omicron variant of the coronavirus. The spike comes just three weeks after the variant was detected in Africa, and only a matter of days before Americans begin to gather for the holidays. (Patch)
  2. BVSD is only one of two districts in entire state that has Narcan at its schools. Just this month, the Boulder Valley School District became one of only two districts in Colorado whose nurses and teachers have and can administer Narcan. (7News)
  3. Remastered Christmas song delivers mellow holiday cheer. "Blue Skies and it's Christmas Time" by The Flash Mountain Flood bassist, Derek Dames Ohl, is an instant classic. (CO Daily)
  4. Gov. Jared Polis appoints Republican Ken Montera to CU Board of Regents. Montera previously ran for an at-large seat on the Board of Regents in 2018 but lost to Democrat Lesley Smith. (CO Newsline)
  5. Westminster City Council votes to approve Uplands development proposal. After three nights of testimony, city council OK'd the project early Tuesday – which will bring over 2,000 homes, including a commitment to provide missing middle housing, to a long vacant property. (CO Sun)
