Here are the top stories today in Boulder:

  1. Pearl Street closure a hot topic at Boulder City Council. City council is debating whether or not it should follow city staff's recommendation to reopen West Pearl to vehicle traffic. (KUSA)
  2. The public weighs in as Boulder County Commissioners consider CEMEX permit renewal. Almost 60 people signed up to speak at last Wednesday's meeting, with most opposed to the renewal of the permit for CEMEX's mine at the Dowe Flats Quarry. Some argued that allowing the mine to continue would be counterintuitive to the county's climate goals. (Yahoo!)
  3. Will climate change affect Colorado's infrastructure? A CU professor has been studying the impacts of climate change on the state's infrastructure. Many of Colorado's roads and bridges were built with small tolerances for heat, cold and rain, and with climate change exceeding those tolerances, it could become a significant factor in the future. 4. The fish are dying in many of Colorado's lakes. Toxic algae blooms along with high temperatures is depleting oxygen, and has been causing massive fish die-offs in lakes across the state. (Out There)
